TIBC (Total Iron-Binding Capacity of Serum)
TIBC reflects the ability of blood serum to bind iron and is used to assess iron metabolism in the body.
The test helps:
- Detect iron deficiency
- Diagnose iron-deficiency anemia
- Distinguish different types of anemia
- Assess the status of iron-transporting proteins
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Submit fasting (8-12 hours without food)
- Avoid alcohol and intense physical exertion for 24 hours
- Avoid iron supplements for 3-5 days (with doctor's approval)
- Decreased hemoglobin
- Anemia symptoms (weakness, fatigue, dizziness)
- Chronic diseases
- Suspected iron metabolism disorders
Elevated TIBC — iron deficiency, iron-deficiency anemia
