Tissue Transglutaminase Antibody Determination IgA and IgG, ICL
The test detects tissue transglutaminase antibodies class IgA and IgG, used for diagnosing celiac disease, assessing disease activity, and monitoring gluten-free diet adherence.
Composition (antibodies):
tTG IgA — antibodies to tissue transglutaminase class IgA
tTG IgG — antibodies to tissue transglutaminase class IgG
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Submit fasting (8-12 hours without food)
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours
- Avoid stress and physical exertion 30 minutes before
- Inform the doctor if taking immunomodulators, hormonal, or anti-inflammatory medications.
- suspected celiac disease
- chronic diarrhea or constipation of unknown origin
- weight loss, anemia, or vitamin deficiency
- nutrient absorption disorder
- monitoring gluten-free diet adherence in already diagnosed patients
Mechanism of abnormalities
In celiac disease, the immune system produces antibodies against the tissue transglutaminase enzyme, causing small intestine mucosal inflammation, villi damage, and nutrient absorption disorder.
Negative result — tTG IgA and IgG antibodies not detected
Positive result — tissue transglutaminase IgA or IgG antibodies detected, indicating celiac disease or increased risk of its development
Important: the result is assessed together with clinical data and other laboratory tests; small intestine biopsy is sometimes required
