Trophoblastic beta-1-glycoprotein (TBG)
The test determines the level of trophoblastic beta-1-glycoprotein (TBG) — the protein synthesized by placental trophoblast cells during pregnancy. TBG is an early marker of pregnancy onset and development. Used to assess embryo viability and placental function. Applied for early diagnosis of pregnancy complications.
What the test evaluates:
- TBG concentration in blood serum
- Trophoblast and placental functional activity
- Early implantation and pregnancy development stages
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting
- Exclude physical activity and stress 24 hours before
- Test can be performed any time of day, preferably morning
Medications:
- Hormonal drugs used for pregnancy support may affect TBG level
- Medication discontinuation only by physician agreement

Elevated TBG: corresponds to normally developing pregnancy (considering gestational age)
Reduced TBG: may indicate pregnancy loss risk, embryo developmental delay, or ectopic pregnancy
