Study of specific IgE to local anesthetics and antibiotics assessing drug allergy sensitization. Evaluates allergic reaction risk to these medications.
Panel composition: Ultracaine, Septanest 1:100,000, Novocaine, Ceftriaxone, Lincomycin
Method: ELISA or ImmunoCAP
Clinical significance: Identifies drugs causing reactions, enables planning of safe alternatives for dental, surgical, and therapeutic procedures.
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting
- Exclude alcohol the day before
- Avoid intense physical activity and stress before testing
Medications:
Inform physician of hormonal drugs, immunomodulators, and antihistamines
- Previously documented allergic reactions to anesthetics or antibiotics;
- suspected sensitization;
- planning medical procedures with anesthesia or antibiotics;
- selecting safe drug for patient with drug allergy history.
Elevated specific IgE — sensitization to specific drug; potential allergic reaction on use.
Low specific IgE — absence of significant sensitization or tolerance.
