Urine Uric Acid, 24-Hour
The test allows determining the uric acid level in urine — the final product of purine metabolism. Used for diagnosing metabolic disorders, gout, kidney diseases, and monitoring their therapy.
Mechanism of abnormalities: elevated urinary uric acid may indicate increased purine breakdown, kidney excretory function disorder, or excess dietary protein. Decrease — metabolic disorder or decreased kidney filtration capacity.

- with gout or elevated blood uric acid level
- for monitoring diet and therapy
- with purine metabolism disorders
Biomaterial: 24-hour urine
- Collect urine over 24 hours in a clean container
- Exclude purine-rich foods (meat, legumes, organ meats) for 2-3 days
- Avoid intense physical exertion and stress
Medications: if taking medications affecting purine metabolism or kidney function — inform the doctor
- Suspected gout or purine metabolism disorders
- Kidney diseases (stones, nephropathy)
- Monitoring diet and therapy in chronic kidney diseases
- Joint pain, swelling, and elevated blood uric acid level
Normal — 24-hour urine uric acid level within reference values
Abnormality — requires physician assessment to determine the cause and choose further tactics
