Vitamin 25(OH)D2 and 25(OH)D3, separate determination (HPLC-MS/MS) (25-Hydroxyvitamin D2 and D3, LC-MS/MS)
The test determines concentrations of 25(OH)D2 and 25(OH)D3 - the main circulating forms of vitamin D - with separate assessment of each fraction. The HPLC-MS/MS method provides high accuracy and allows identification of the vitamin D source (dietary or medicinal). The study is used to diagnose vitamin D deficiency, insufficiency, or excess, and to monitor therapy.
Note: This test is NOT intended for screening vitamin status assessment.
What the test evaluates:
- Level of 25(OH)D2 in blood serum
- Level of 25(OH)D3 in blood serum
- Overall vitamin D body supply
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting
- Exclude intense physical activity 24 hours before
- Exclude vitamin D preparation intake 24 hours before (unless otherwise recommended)
Medications:
With prolonged vitamin D intake - indicate dosage to attending physician
- For vitamin status assessment
- With mineral metabolism disorders
- With bone and joint diseases
- For rickets prevention monitoring (as indicated)
Low 25(OH)D2 and/or 25(OH)D3 - possible vitamin D deficiency - mineral and bone metabolism disorders
Normal level - sufficient vitamin D supply
Elevated level - may be associated with vitamin D therapy or excess dietary intake
