Vitamin B2 concentration determination (FAD), whole blood (Vitamin B2, Flavin Adenine Dinucleotide - FAD, Whole Blood)
The test determines the concentration of flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) - the active coenzyme form of vitamin B2 in whole blood. Vitamin B2 participates in redox reactions, energy metabolism, and cell protection from oxidative stress. The study detects vitamin B2 deficiency, which can occur with GI diseases, chronic inflammatory processes, and insufficient dietary intake.
Note: The test reflects the active coenzyme form of vitamin B2 and is used for functional body supply assessment.
What the test evaluates:
- Flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) level in whole blood
- Energy metabolism condition
- Redox process activity
Biomaterial: Whole venous blood
- Draw blood fasting
- Exclude intense physical activity 24 hours before
Medications:
If possible, discontinue preparations and complexes containing vitamin B2 24-48 hours before
- For vitamin status assessment
- With skin and mucous membrane diseases
- With vision disorders and photosensitivity
- With nutrient absorption disorders
Low vitamin B2 - possible deficiency - energy metabolism and antioxidant protection disorder
Normal level - sufficient vitamin B2 supply
Elevated level - may be associated with vitamin preparation intake or therapy features
Important: Vitamin status correction and therapy prescription determined by physician.
