Vitamin B5 in serum (pantothenic acid) (Vitamin B5, Pantothenic Acid, Serum)
The test determines the level of vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) in blood serum - a vitamin necessary for synthesis of coenzyme A, adrenal cortex hormones, fatty acids, and normal energy metabolism. The study detects vitamin B5 deficiency, which can be accompanied by chronic fatigue, sleep disorders, reduced stress resistance, and metabolic disorders.
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting
- Exclude physical activity 24 hours before
Medications:
If possible, discontinue pantothenic acid-containing vitamin preparations 24-48 hours before
If discontinuation is not possible - indicate medications taken
- Chronic stress and overwork
- Reduced work capacity
- Sleep disorders
- Endocrine disorders
- Metabolic disorders
- Unbalanced diet
- Suspected vitamin B5 hypovitaminosis
Recommended for patients with vitamin deficiency signs, endocrine disorders, chronic fatigue/stress, patients correcting their diet, patients taking vitamin complexes
Low vitamin B5 - pantothenic acid deficiency - energy metabolism disorder - possible reduced adrenal function
Normal level - sufficient vitamin B5 supply
Elevated level - more often associated with vitamin preparation intake
Important: Deficiency correction and intake regimen determined by physician.
