Vitamin K2: MK-4 and MK-7, serum (Vitamin K2: Menaquinone-4 and Menaquinone-7, Serum)
The test is a comprehensive study with separate determination of two main forms of vitamin K2 - menaquinone-4 (MK-4) and menaquinone-7 (MK-7). Vitamin K2 plays a key role in calcium metabolism regulation, bone mineral density maintenance, and vascular calcification prevention.
Note: This test is NOT intended for screening vitamin status assessment.
What the test evaluates:
- Menaquinone-4 (MK-4) level in blood serum
- Menaquinone-7 (MK-7) level in blood serum
- Overall vitamin K2 body supply
Biomaterial: Venous blood
- Draw blood fasting
- Exclude fatty food 24 hours before
Medications:
Vitamin K and anticoagulant preparation intake to be coordinated with attending physician
- With osteopenia and osteoporosis
- With vascular disorders and vascular calcification
- For vitamin therapy monitoring
- With bone tissue metabolic diseases
Low vitamin K2 - possible deficiency - elevated risk of reduced bone mineral density and vascular calcification
Normal level - sufficient vitamin K2 supply
Elevated level - may be associated with vitamin K2 preparation intake or therapy features
