Wright-Heddelson Test, Brucellosis (Serum)
The test is aimed at detecting antibodies to the brucellosis pathogen (Brucella spp.).
Used for diagnosing acute and chronic forms of brucellosis.
Applied for prolonged fever, joint and muscle pain, increased fatigue, sweating.
Prescribed for occupational risks (working with animals, meat and dairy products), as well as in differential diagnosis of infectious diseases.
What the test assesses:
• Presence and titer of antibodies to Brucella spp. in serum
• Fact of infection and immune response activity
Biomaterial: Venous blood
• Submit fasting
• Avoid intense physical exertion for 24 hours
Medications:
• If possible, avoid antibacterial medications for 24-48 hours
Recommended for testing:
• When brucellosis is suspected
• With prolonged fever and intoxication
• With joint pain of unknown origin
Important: results are assessed in combination with clinical data.
Negative result
— antibodies to Brucella spp. not detected
— low probability of current infection
Positive result
— presence of antibodies to Brucella spp.
— indicates current or past infection, possible active phase
Important: physician consultation is necessary for a positive or questionable result.
