Cervical and Endometrial Biopsy
Cervical and endometrial biopsy is a diagnostic procedure in which the physician takes a small tissue fragment from the cervix, endometrium, vulva, or vagina for subsequent histological examination under a microscope. This is the only method that allows absolute accuracy in determining the nature of tissue changes: benign, precancerous (dysplasia), or malignant.
Indicated for pathological changes detected during colposcopy, abnormal PAP test (cytology) results, cervical erosion and leukoplakia, suspected cervical or endometrial cancer, polyps, and condylomas. The procedure is performed by a gynecologist on an outpatient basis, takes 10–20 minutes, and is performed under local anesthesia. Histological results are ready within 7–14 working days.
⚠️ Price: from KZT 8,850 per tissue block. The final cost depends on the number of tissue blocks and is determined after the laboratory assessment.
Location: Almaty, Aksai-5 district, 12A
Preparation
- Optimal time for biopsy is days 5–7 of the menstrual cycle (immediately after menstruation ends): the mucosa heals better during this period
- Do not perform the procedure during menstruation — bleeding complicates sample collection and reduces result accuracy
- Avoid sexual intercourse 2 days before the procedure
- Discontinue vaginal suppositories, tablets, creams, and douching 2 days before — without physician agreement
- Inform the gynecologist about anticoagulants and aspirin intake — discontinued 5–7 days before to prevent bleeding
- Inform about allergy to local anesthetics
- Perform standard external genital hygiene the day before — without aggressive products
- After biopsy for 7–10 days: avoid sexual intercourse, tampons, douching, swimming pools, steam baths, and saunas
