Cervical Erosion Treatment (Cauterization)
Cervical erosion treatment is a gynecological procedure aimed at treating changes in the cervical mucosa. The method allows removal of damaged tissue areas and stimulates their healthy recovery. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, usually takes 10–20 minutes, and helps prevent further development of inflammatory processes and complications.
How the procedure is performed
Treatment is performed using specialized medical equipment that affects the altered areas of the cervical mucosa. Various treatment methods may be applied depending on the clinical situation (by physician recommendation). The procedure is usually well tolerated.

Preparation
- undergo gynecological examination
- perform pelvic ultrasound
- take flora and infection swabs
- undergo cytological examination (PAP test) if needed
- avoid sexual intercourse, vaginal medications, and douching 1–2 days before Optimal time for the procedure is after menstruation ends.
After the procedure
Moderate discharge may be observed for several days or weeks — this is a normal healing response.
During recovery:
- temporarily avoid sexual intercourse
- avoid saunas, steam baths, and swimming pools
- follow physician recommendations.
Follow-up gynecological examination is performed after 4–6 weeks.

- cervical erosion or ectopy
- chronic inflammatory processes of the cervix
- epithelial changes identified during examination
- contact spotting
