How the procedure is performed
The procedure is performed by a gynecologist in a medical office and usually takes 10–15 minutes. Before insertion, the physician performs an examination and may recommend a pelvic ultrasound to assess the uterine condition and choose the optimal IUD type. After IUD insertion, the patient can return to normal activities the same day.

After insertion
