Doppler Ultrasound of Veins of Both Lower Limbs
Doppler ultrasound of the veins of both lower limbs examines the venous system of both legs, including superficial (great and small saphenous veins) and deep veins (iliac, femoral, popliteal, and lower leg veins). Evaluates venous patency, valve function, and the presence of reflux (reverse blood flow).
The examination is recommended for patients with varicose veins, leg swelling, aching or heaviness in the legs, particularly towards the end of the day, as well as for those with suspected deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which requires urgent diagnosis and treatment.
Doppler ultrasound of the veins of both lower limbs is routinely performed before sclerotherapy and varicose vein surgery to assess venous function and assist with treatment planning. The procedure is safe, non-invasive, and typically takes 35–45 minutes.

Preparation:
- Avoid intense physical activity 2 hours before the examination
- Do not smoke 2 hours before the procedure
- Do not take vasoconstrictive medications on the day of examination without physician approval
- Wear loose clothing that allows easy access to the legs
- If you have varicose veins — remove compression stockings 20–30 minutes before the examination
- No special diet or fasting required
