Doppler Ultrasound of Veins of One Lower Limb
Doppler Ultrasound of the Veins of One Lower Limb is a targeted ultrasound examination of the venous system in a single leg. It is recommended for patients with unilateral leg swelling, pain, redness, or a hardened vein, which may be signs of acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT)—a condition that requires prompt diagnosis and treatment.
The examination is also performed as a follow-up after sclerotherapy, phlebectomy, or endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) of one leg. It allows physicians to assess the condition of the major veins, detect floating (free-floating) thrombi, evaluate venous blood flow, and determine the most appropriate treatment strategy.
The procedure is safe, non-invasive, requires no special preparation, and typically takes 20–25 minutes.
Location: Almaty, Aksai-5 district, 12A
Preparation:
- Avoid intense physical activity 2 hours before the examination
- Do not smoke 2 hours before the procedure
- Do not take vasoconstrictive medications on the day of examination without physician approval
- Wear loose clothing that allows easy access to the legs
- If you have varicose veins — remove compression stockings 20–30 minutes before the examination
- No special diet or fasting required
