Preventive Medical Examinations of Children in Kindergartens

Preventive medical examination of children in kindergartens is a planned comprehensive examination of preschool institution pupils conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Public Health and the Healthcare System" and regulatory acts of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at established intervals. Aimed at early detection of physical and mental developmental deviations, chronic conditions, and risk factors.

Regular medical examinations help timely identify health disorders and take necessary measures for their prevention and treatment.

During the examination, the physician evaluates:

• the child's general health condition
• physical development
• condition of the respiratory system, cardiovascular system, and other organs
• signs of possible health conditions

The examination includes:

• 5 specialist examinations: pediatrician, neurologist, ophthalmologist, ENT physician, and orthopedic traumatologist  
• laboratory tests: complete blood count (CBC), urinalysis (UA), enterobiasis scraping  
• additional examinations if needed

Based on the results, an official health status conclusion and entries in the child's health passport are provided. Referrals and recommendations for further specialist examination may be issued if needed.

The clinic visits the childcare institution or receives children in organized groups under a contractual agreement with the kindergarten administration.

Examination organization procedure

1. The kindergarten administration enters into an agreement with the clinic and provides named lists of pupils with dates of birth.
2. Parents are notified in advance about the examination date and procedure and sign an informed consent.
3. On the examination day the child must be healthy — if acute symptoms are present (fever, runny nose, cough), the examination is postponed.
4. Morning meal — no later than 1.5–2 hours before the examination if blood collection is planned.
5. Bring the child's outpatient card and vaccination certificate for correct medical documentation.
6. Inform the pediatrician about chronic conditions, allergies, and medications before the examination begins.
