Neurosonography
Neurosonography is a safe ultrasound examination of the brain in newborns and young children. The procedure is performed through the fontanelle, allowing the physician to assess brain structure, the ventricular system, and cerebral blood flow.
The examination helps detect congenital developmental anomalies, signs of hypoxia, intracranial hypertension, hemorrhages, and other disorders at an early stage.
The procedure is painless, requires no preparation, and takes approximately 10–15 minutes. Neurosonography is often recommended as a preventive assessment of brain health in infants, as well as when symptoms are present or at a physician's referral.
