Doppler Ultrasound of Arteries and Veins of One Upper Limb
Doppler ultrasound of the arteries and veins of one upper limb is a comprehensive ultrasound examination of both the arterial and venous circulation in a single arm. It evaluates arterial blood flow to the arm and venous blood return, providing a complete assessment of the vascular system. This examination is particularly valuable following traumatic injuries, post-traumatic circulatory disorders, and vascular surgical or endovascular procedures.
The examination is recommended for patients with unilateral vascular disease, follow-up after vascular bypass surgery, thrombectomy, sclerotherapy, or phlebectomy involving one upper limb, arm injuries with suspected vascular damage, or arm swelling accompanied by signs of impaired arterial circulation.
The examination helps detect arterial stenosis, impaired blood flow, atherosclerosis, venous thrombosis, venous insufficiency, and other vascular abnormalities, allowing physicians to establish an accurate diagnosis and determine the most appropriate treatment plan.
The procedure is safe, painless, requires no special preparation, and typically takes 30–35 minutes.
