Folliculometry Ultrasound
Folliculometry is an ultrasound examination that monitors the growth and development of follicles in the ovaries of women of reproductive age.
During the examination, the physician evaluates:
- the number and size of follicles
- the condition of the uterine endometrium
- the presence and maturity of the dominant follicle
- ovulation and readiness for conception.
Folliculometry helps with pregnancy planning, monitoring infertility treatment, evaluating ovarian stimulation effectiveness, and predicting ovulation.
The procedure is performed transvaginally and is painless, safe, and takes 10–15 minutes.

Preparation
- The bladder should be empty.
- The examination is typically performed on days 5–12 of the menstrual cycle, unless the physician specifies otherwise.
- Wear comfortable clothing.
- Bring previous ultrasound results if available.

- monitoring ovarian stimulation in IVF programs
- irregular menstrual cycles
